US distribution company owned by MCA Inc. The company was active between 1991 and 1996. From 1991 to 1994 the company was legally known as Uni Distribution Corporation. Towards the end of 1996, the distribution corporation was rebranded as Universal Music & Video Distribution, Inc.
The company also ran a CD manufacturing plant in Pinckneyville, IL and a vinyl/cassette manufacturing plant in Gloversville, NY, formerly known as MCA Pressing Plant, Pinckneyville and MCA Pressing Plant, Gloversville respectively.
Universal Music & Video Distribution, Inc. went into a joint venture with Panasonic Disc Services Corporation (PDSC), a subsidiary of Matsushita Electric Ind. Co., Ltd. in 1999 to install DVD manufacturing capabilities at the CD plant in Pinckneyville, which continued as Matsushita Universal Media Services. In 2002, the plant was renamed Technicolor Universal Media Services, after Technicolor purchased Panasonic Disc Services Corp interests from parent company Matsushita Electric Ind. Co., Ltd. .
