Short-lived California label founded by Jerry Garcia and Ron Rakow, guitarist/vocalist and manager respectively of [a246650]. Formed in 1973 to release solo material by Garcia and other projects related to [a246650], apart from several live albums, most of the releases were recorded at either Ace's, owned by Bob Weir, or The Barn, Novato, California, owned by Mickey Hart, also members of [a246650]. The label ceased operating in 1976 when Ron Rakow absconded with several hundred thousand dollars, also causing Grateful Dead Records to stop trading as a fully independent unit.
