Carousel Ballroom
Настоящее имя: Carousel Ballroom
Historic music venue in San Francisco (CA) active in the 1960s, located atop a Chevrolet dealership at 10 South Van Ness Avenue and 1545 Market Street. From the late 1920s into the 1950s, the venue was known as "El Patio Ballroom". Immediately following the firing of their manager, Bill Graham (2), in January 1968, the Jefferson Airplane - along with The Grateful Dead, Big Brother & The Holding Company, and Quicksilver Messenger Service - formed a San Francisco Artist's Collective, and re-opened El Patio as the Carousel Ballroom, with each of the bands holding a 10% stake in the business. By late summer, Graham had taken over the Carousel, relocating his Fillmore Auditorium from its original Geary Boulevard address, and rechristening it the Fillmore West.
