The Children's Record Guild
Настоящее имя: The Children's Record Guild
Children's record label, which recorded music from 1950-1957 (and marketed LPs up to 1977). This label was an outgrowth of Young People's Records. Children's Record Guild was developed by Horace Grenell, founder of Young People's Records, who was unhappy with YPR's ownership. In 1950, Grenell left and developed Children's Record Guild for the publishing house Greystone Press. Greystone subsequently franchised CRG to Book-Of-The Month Club and Encyclopedia Americana.
In 1952, Greystone purchased YPR, and continued to operate the CRG club throughout the 1950s. YPR and CRG titles were marketed on 78rpm discs until the late 1960s.
They did significant business with Abbey Record Manufacturing Co., Inc.
Horace Grenell as well as a part owner of Abbey Record Manufacturing Co., Inc. acted as consultant and repertory director for two mail-order record companies, Music Treasures Of The World & The Children's Record Guild.
