Metatec Corporation
Настоящее имя: Metatec Corporation
After merging with Discovery Systems in 1988, Metatec became a major manufacturer of CD-ROMs at its facility in Dublin, OH, USA. Some audio CD production continued into the 1990s, mainly for the syndicated programs within the U.S. radio industry. These CDs tend to be entered on Discogs as "partially unofficial", but the manufacturer is not a bootlegger.
The registered name was changed to Metatec Inc. in 1989.
In 1998 the company acquired the CD-ROM Services business of Imation Corporation, which included replicating plants in Menomonie, WI; Fremont, CA; and Breda, the Netherlands. Imation retained ownership of the Menomonie site so Metatec later transferred its equipment and employees to other facilities. As Metatec now owned a facility outside the US, the company was renamed Metatec International, Inc. Due to losses over the following years, the plant in Fremont, CA was closed in 2001, and later sold to Medius Corporation.
In October 2003, the facility in Breda was taken over by Mediamotion. Then in December of the same year, MTI Acquisition, LLC purchased the assets of Metatec Inc., which continued as Inoveris, headquartered in Dublin, OH.
