Charlie & Esdor was a Swedish progg music duo from the end of the 1960s. Norwegian Esdor Jensen was originally the bassist in the band DeCoys from Tromsø, Norway. In 1969 he moved to Katrineholm in Sweden, where he came in contact with the half-Norwegian drummer Edmund "Charlie" Franzén, who was then learning to play the sitar. They formed a duo that played at the two Gärdet festivals in Stockholm in 1970, and are featured on the compilation album [m572852]. In 1970, their psychedelic single Då klagar mina grannar / Dagen är över was released, produced by Bo Anders Larsson. At Larsson's initiative, the duo was strengthened with guitarist Lasse Summanen for the recording of an album, but this was never released and the recordings disappeared. In 1972 however, the EP []iGrönt är skönt was released with three of these songs and the title track, which was an unreleased single. Charlie & Esdor and Summanen also played with Larsson on his second Scorpion (6) single. The duo were also background singers on the band Envoys' hit Almarna åt folket (1971), and in 1972 became members of the band Blueset from Södertälje. However, they left the latter band after a short time without participating in any recordings. Franzén later became a member of the pop group Stardust (6) and thereby moved to a completely different genre. All available material by Charlie & Esdor was reissued in 2005 on CD by Mellotronen. Franzén remained in Katrineholm, while Jensen returned to Tromsø.
