Stardust was a Swedish pop group that formed in October 1970 as Stämbandet ("vocal cord" in English) by singers, Elisabeth Lord and Britt Johansson (later known as May-Britt "Maya" Wirbladh). They had previously worked together in Bäckmora Show and Midnight Singers. Lord left after one year. Also with the group from the start was guitarist Jorma Kujansuu and pianist Sven Wirbladh. Bassist Leif Elves Tribe also started with them, but left after half the album was recorded, to be replaced by Tomas Nauwelaertz De Agé. The drummer was Edmund Charlie Franzén (former member of the duo Charlie & Esdor). Their first Stämbandet single "Lyckliga Världen" ("Happy World" in English) was released in 1973, written by Kujansuu and also recorded by Lars Winfrey and Ola Hakansson. Their first album was released in 1975, featuring songs written by Kujansuu, with some lyrics written by Wirbladh. This album was selected as "Weekly Swedish LP" by Swedish Radio P3 in March 1975. The band represented Sweden once in Europe top radio list arranged by the EBU. The second album was recorded in London after Stardust signed with Satril and Henry Hadaway. Stardust toured much of Europe in the 70s and were featured in the BBC TV programme, Top of the Pops on 22 September 1977. The group stopped touring full time in October 1978. Stardust went on hiatus until 2016, when a third album under the name Stardust Revival with 14 of their own songs (written in English) was published by Riverside Records (2), Stockholm.
