(I believe that Bob is both Bob Clifford and Bob Clifford (3) and they should be merged but I need to do more research.) Born in London in 1951. From the late 60's onward worked at many of the UK's music labels, production, recording and music studios including Nova Studios, Polydor initially working in the Copyright Department, but soon progressed into A&R and then Marketing. He did pretty well with releases on his own label, RAK, Sonet and a host of other indies. Later working for Next he joined Arista Records as US Label Manager. Bob continued to play guitar a "rather average country band", and recorded a one-off single for EMI. He has also appeared on Top of the Pops, This Morning with Richard and Judy, and The Word playing guitar on Rolf Harrs's hit cover of Stairway to Heaven. After a brief spell at budget label Pickwick he joined EMI Music Publishing as a song plugger, eventually running the Exploitation Area there, until EMI combined with SBK. He ran Jobete Music (Motown's publishing arm) single handed for a year, and around 2000 went back to EMI Music where he was Standard Catalogue Manager. In this role, Bob has been involved in a number of legal licensing/royalty cases, including the "Jesus in a Camper Van" case over the use of lyrics by Robbie WIlliams.(1).
