Running Sores

The Running Sores were a London based punk band between September and December 1976. The band consisted of Dennis Munday, Bob Clifford, Steve Walter, Steve Bywaters and Tim Chacksfield. Their only single, A-side "I'm A Punkstar" while featured on a few punk compilations, was only ever pressed as an acetate. The band via Polydor attempted to get the release pressed as 500 copies for promotional use but were unable to get it cleared by the pressing plant manager due to the language in the vocals. This was shortly after the UK backlash over the Sex Pistols and "Anarchy In The UK" as well as other punk release containing swearing and abusive language. By Dennis' own admission the band never played live. The band all worked for Polydor Dennis and Bob were responsible for a number of compilations and production releases. Dennis went on to work with The Jam and Style Council among others. Steve Walters, Steve Bywaters [both studio engineers] and Tim Chacksfield, a product manager.
