In 1969, Chris Nunley needed to fulfill The Royal Guardsmen's touring obligations, as all other original members had left the band. From Clarksville, Tennessee guitarist Chuck Emery (2), bassist Tom Armistead, and Rubber Duck keyboardist John Moseley joined Nunley on vocals / drums to complete the tour. They relocated back to Clarksville and became the band Home, changing their sound to roots rock. After getting bumped from American Studios, they discovered Cavern Studios (2) in Independence, Missouri and cut demos of 32 songs to make their full-length debut album. From September 1969 to January 1970, they spent so much time in the studio they were given the keys to the studio and allowed to work on the album after hours. The recordings were shopped to the Beatles' Apple Corps but were rejected along with the news that the band Home was already in use by a British Band. They changed their name to Mulligan (6) and soldiered on for another three years. Armistead left the band and they briefly played as a three piece. Eventually Nunley returned to Ocala. Moseley stayed at Cavern Studios and worked there for years as an engineer and arranger before retiring from music completely to become a Communications professor at Clarksville's Austin Peay State University.
