MiG-21 formed in Christchurch, New Zealand, in June 2001 as an electro-glam-pop outfit with some industrial noise and avant-rock underpinnings. Their two releases may only hint at what was fully evident in the band's on-stage antics - an unholy obsession with vanished Eastern Block imagery and a propensity for outrageous transvestism! Because of the ephemeral nature of kRkRkRk collaborations, MiG-21’s first album, 'MF', was recorded in some haste to Fostex VF16 digital 16-track between June & September 2001. Work on the second album, 'Hot To Trotsky' proceeded in a more leisurely fashion between July 2002 and January 2004. With the departure overseas of Ed Wilson, MiG-21 ceased live operations in July 2003, and thus 'Hot To Trotsky' is a posthumous release.
