Wizex in its modern form was formed in Osby, Sweden in 1973. The original members were Kikki Danielsson (Vocals), Mats Nilsson (bass), Tommy Stiernfeldt (guitar), Tommy Carlsson (guitar), Jerker Nilsson (drums) & Lars Hagelin (keyboards). However, the group name had been used in the 60s as well by another constellation entirely. Wizex toured the folk parks and were successful with that. In 1974 they got to release their first album, which was followed by a string of other albums with increasing success. A breakthrough which led to some chart presence came in 1977 as Wizex performed on Swedish TV in the show Nygammalt. The next year, the group took part in Melodifestivalen which is the Swedish pre-selection for the Eurovision Song Contest. They shared the first place and it came to a second round of voting where the eleven juries gave one point each, to the one of the two song they wanted to win. "Miss Decibel" by Wizex only scored three of the eleven votes and thus didn't make it to the Eurovision stage. The group kept the same setup until the early 80s. Singer Kikki Danielsson had become very popular by then and performed in other constellations as well. Wizex still exist and have seen band members come and go. They have had singers like Lena Pålsson, Charlotte Nilsson (now Perelli), Paula Pennsäter, Jessica Sjöholm and Anna Sköld. Current line-up: Anna Sköld Eric Iversen Allan Dittrich Thomas Lindberg Thomas Wennerström Tommy Karlsson Wizex have sold records in the seven figure range and are still going strong.
