In 2014, soon after [a2627578] a.k.a. Michael Wahler, founder and creative head of the legendary German band Die Suurbiers, had passed away, some of the remaining band members and quite a number of die hard followers began with the launch of the "Verein für Suurbier-Kultur und Handwerk e.V." association. The band’s role as a major influence for a number of successful bands such as the very popular German band Die Toten Hosen and its ongoing attraction to a great number of actively supporting followers from the 1980s on and the impact on even todays young followers couldn't be ignored. Consequently the launch of the association wasn't a hard decision and turned out being a move into the right direction. Today the association "Verein für Suurbier-Kultur und Handwerk e.V." is keeping up the legacy of Cäpt'n Suurbier. It is organizing concerts, compiling and releasing formerly non released original Die Suurbiers songs, releasing records of the band’s material and most important of all it is engaged in supporting Berlin based young local musicians, especially those descendants from underprivileged families.
