I.E.M.O. Bs. As.
Настоящее имя: I.E.M.O. Bs. As.
Short form of Industrias Electricas Y Musicales Odeon S.A.I.C., credit used when refering for the company's vinyl factory. Appeared as it's own entity around 1968 used for pressings of EMI sublabels where IEMO SAIC was phased out by non-specific EMI logos (with distribution by E.M.I. Suppliers (Sud América) S.A.C. e I. and presumably by EMI-Odeon S.A.I.C. later). Eventually pressing credits were also moved to the new subsidiary by the late 72.
Important: IEMO Bs. As. sometimes appears on EMI-Odeon S.A.I.C. releases. This is not a legitimate credit, but a reuse of print assets by EMI-Odeon
EMI would keep using old print assets (pre-arranged cuts used in paste up techniques for pre digital label design) for some years after IEMO Bs. As. was overtaken. It is not a valid credit and can be found on releases as late as 1975. EMI-Odeon S.A.I.C. will normally be found credited somewhere in cover art, legal info snippets or single sleeve.
Note that during the IEMO to EMI-Odeon transitional period of late 1972 to early 1973 there's a number of inacurrate and contradicting labels where EMI-Odeon is not mentioned despite having already been renamed IEMO. A number of causes could be speculated, but information is not, and possibly won't be, clear on the subject. In such cases, submit as-is or ask on the forums.
Important: Do not confuse IEMO numbering with #cat number.
A "IEMO number" is an XXX, XXXX and XXXXX number written on one of the corners of the back cover. This does not indicate catalog but an internal numbering scheme. It is usually inherited from release to reissue, but it isn't guaranteed. These codes may be sequential, but their use is inconsistent. Few IEMO Bs. As. releases had an IEMO number.
Further info:
Primary #cat scheme for pressings where IEMO Bs. As. is credited:
1XXX - Singles
3XXX - EPs
5XXX - LPs. Mono.
6XXX - LPs. Stereo.
10XXX - "División Especial" series.
Prefixes:
S - Prefixed to 5XXX series to note Stereo instead of mono. Later replaced with 5XXX/6XXX mono-stereo division.
X - Unknown purpose.
L - Unknown purpose. Always appended to X.
C - Unknown purpose. Always appended to X.
R - Unknown purpose. Always appended to X.
34 - Mono. Used for Apple Records releases.
44 - Stereo. Used for Apple Records releases.
#cats on cover usually show both mono and stereo versions at sale -ex. X/SX-xxxx ; 34/44.XXXX - and the correct #cat on the labels. Credit the correct form of the #cat last as to avoid cluttering.
If the releases include multiple vinyls, prefix \X or \XX is appended with the normal #cat appearing on each vinyl. Crediting all #cats is not necessary but encouraged.
