Variety (6)

Short-lived U.S. record label that was produced for Irving Mills' Master Records, Inc. (3) by the Brunswick Record Corporation, which was then a division within the American Record Corporation. The intent of the Variety label was to issue jazz and big-band material of high musical quality but limited commercial appeal. As such, the venture lasted less then a year, and the label folded by the end of 1937. Some of the material recorded for the Variety label was later issued on Brunswick, Vocalion (2) and other American Record Corporation/Brunswick Record Corporation brands. Some appeared later on Columbia.
