Miami University, Oxford

American public research university, established in 1809 and located in Oxford, Ohio, with regional campuses in Hamilton, Middletown, and West Chester. Miami University is the second-oldest higher education institution in Ohio and one of the oldest public universities nationwide. Do not confuse with University Of Miami (est. 1925) in Miami, Florida. In 1985, Miami University appeared on the original list of "Public Ivy" schools (state-funded universities with educational standards deemed on par with Ivy League's), alongside College Of William & Mary, Williamsburg (Virginia), University Of Vermont, The University Of Michigan (Ann Arbor), University Of North Carolina At Chapel Hill, University Of Texas, Austin and UC Berkeley (including also University of California campuses in Los Angeles, San Diego, Irvine, Davis, Santa Barbara, Santa Cruz and Riverside).
