Levy's, Pressing Plant, Aston Clinton
Настоящее имя: Levy's, Pressing Plant, Aston Clinton
UK pressing plant in Buckinghamshire and part of the Levy brothers music empire which included Levy's Sound Studios run by Morris and Jacques Levy. The Levy's plant operated from the 1950s through to September 1964, when taken over by CBS. For UK CBS pressings from that date please see CBS Pressing Plant, Aston Clinton.
The matrix on Levy's pressings is usually stamped at 12 o'clock, horizontally - rather than following the circumference of the runout, as found on Philips/Phonogram pressings.
Levy's plant helped to press the first records for Philips before they had their own UK plant. A large proportion of Decca's Felsted Records releases were also pressed there, along with the Dutch Discofoon and Belgian Teeny labels. Output also included flexidiscs & 'Polish postcard' releases, UK distribution & pressings for Mercury and Tamla Motown and their own Oriole Records Limited labels Oriole, Allegro Records and the budget labels Embassy and Realm. From September 1964 all of the Levy operations became part of CBS , with Maurice Levy having a notional seat on the UK board until 1967.
