Sound Of Nashville
Настоящее имя: Sound Of Nashville
Sound Of Nashville was a record pressing plant located in Nashville, Tennessee, founded by Robert R. Nelson. It operated from approximately 1962 to 1980 and specialized in custom pressings for small independent regional labels such as Topic, Nugget, Longhorn, and many others. A 1985 Billboard listing shows the company was still in business and then owned by John Ivanits. The firm also provided distribution as Sound Of Nashville, Inc.
Pressings can be identified by a matrix scheme starting with the acronym SoN and followed by a sequential number.
The sequential part of the matrix number can be entered into the Pressed By field, without the leading SoN and without the side designators.
Example: Smacky Mouth
Matrix / Runout (Side A label): SoN 4161
Matrix / Runout (Side B label): SoN 4162
> Pressed By – Sound Of Nashville – 416
Note: Do not confuse with Sonic Recording Products, Inc., who also used the letters "SON" to identify their work in the run-out areas.
These sequential numbers can be used to identify when the record was pressed - but please take into account that pressing dates are not release dates, as a record pressed in December 1963 might have only been released in 1964. Please always take other sources into account as well when dating releases.
