Pannon Jazz

In actuality, the label is somewhat identical with Jazz Oktatási És Kutatási Alapítvány which was founded in 1995 by Géza Gábor Simon a respected and well-known Hungarian jazz historian and critic. The foundation (abbreviated as JOKA) set out to study the history of Hungarian jazz, to hold seminars, to organize concerts and festivals, and to release CDs and MCs, and to publish books. Pannon Jazz was the label of Jazz Oktatási És Kutatási Alapítvány (JOKA), and released approx. 30 CDs, most of which were limited, hand numbered editions of 500 copies. The releases were mostly new recordings but some CDs are long-forgotten treasure from the 70s, and even the 20s and 40s. Even though the foundations is still active, no new CD has been released since the early 2000s.
