C.I.D.I.S.
Настоящее имя: C.I.D.I.S.
Compagnie Industrielle de Distribution de l’Image et du Son (C.I.D.I.S.) was a French vinyl pressing, cassette duplication and printing company active under this name between 1969 and 1978.
Established 1969 after renaming the plant activities of Société Phonographique Philips.
There were 2 plants:
. C.I.D.I.S. Louviers located in Louviers from 1969
. CIDIS, Antony located in Antony from 1972
Please add Pressed By C.I.D.I.S. for 1975-1978 LPs with 'Made in France' on labels and pressing ring of 20 mm in diameter as here (black bare vinyl center ring) or there (looking like 2 rings around the spindle hole, not to be confused with German narrow central ring).
For those years, there is for now no way to know if LPs were pressed in Louviers or Antony.
(Antony had yet same pressing 20mm ring from 1972. And from 1969 to 1975, Louviers had simple or double thin ring of 30 / 34 mm in diameter and a second elevated thick ring of inner diameter of 86 mm as predecessor Société Phonographique Philips)
Those releases have usually 'CIDIS' and often LPL 1Y / 2Y in runouts.
There are also often 3 characters in the runouts identifying the customer, for instance (this list is not exhaustive): ALA = Albatros, ARI = Arion, ATL = Atlantic, BAR = Barclay, CAR = Carrère, CBS = CBS, CHR = Chrysalis, COC = Cosmic Music, DEL = Delphine, ELE = Elektra, ERA = Erato, FON = Fontana, IBA = Disques Ibach, ISL = Island, HUN = Hungaroton, MER = Mercury, PER = Pergola, PHI = Philips, POL = Polydor, RIE = Riviera, VER = Vertigo, VEV = Verve, VIR = Virgin, WAR = Warner Bros, etc ...
Lacquer cuts can be identified by "380" in the runouts. Please add Lacquer Cut At C.I.D.I.S. Louviers in this case, there was no cutting in Antony. The french mastering and cutting engineer André Perriat was known for having worked there.
C.I.D.I.S. was manufacturing injection moulded 7" records, using embossed printing (as opposed to engraved printing). Such records have usually 'Made in France' on the labels. Add Pressed By C.I.D.I.S. Louviers in this case, there was no 7" manufacturing in Antony.
Printed By C.I.D.I.S. Louviers can be added when there is "Imp. C.I.D.I.S. Louviers" on the cover. There was no cover printing in Antony.
It looks like both plants manufactured cassettes but identification is unknown for now.
Renamed to Polygram Industries Messageries officially on 1st January 1979, but this new name was indeed yet in use on some sleeves in 1978.
And it obviously took a while to change the pressing equipment, so 'CIDIS' can still be found in runouts until early 80s. In this case, please use Lacquer Cut At C.I.D.I.S.
