AM Gold

Series by the Time Life Music label. This is a series, not a label. Only add this to the "Series" field, together with the actual label of the release. From 1994 to 1996, Time-Life repackaged Vols. 1-20 of the Super Hits (4) series as Vols. 1-20 (in a different order) of the AM Gold series, with updated artwork and packaging. The original AM Gold releases all used the used same track listings and masterings as Super Hits (4). At least four of the AM Gold releases include variants (reissues with "RE-1" in the matrix number), which swap out one or two tracks from the original AM Gold/Superhits release. NOTE: In theory, this phrase is correctly specified to be considered as and set up as a series title. However, in actual practice, it appears this phrase has also been applied by a majority of catalogers as part of the actual album title in most discogs listings. Album titles shown to have these formats: AM Gold - [Album Subtitle] or AM Gold [Year]. This may have been done out of convenience to gather what is essentially a set of very generically titled album releases consisting only of a numeric decade span, or a single year under a fuller, more specific title grouping. Whatever the case may be for that justification, the practice of this series title being duplicated in the album title area has been done fairly consistently.
