Kongresshalle Berlin
Настоящее имя: Kongresshalle Berlin
Multi-purpose hall in Berlin-Tiergarten, Germany.
Do not confuse with Berliner Kongreßhalle Am Alexanderplatz.
The Kongresshalle was built in 1956 to 1957 for the "Internationale Bauausstellung" (Eng.: International Building Exhibition), held in 1957 in the American sector of the divided Berlin. It achieved prominence quickly due to its spectacular architectual design. After a partly stuctural collapse in 1980 and the reconstruction between 1982 and 1987, it was renamed to Haus der Kulturen der Welt in 1989.
In the Berlin vernacular, it is called "schwangere Auster" (Eng.: pregnant oyster).
