Philips Studios

A.k.a. "Philips Studio London". Established 1956 in the basement of Stanhope House. Initially equipped with a German 8 input mono valve console. Rebuilt in 1958 for stereo. In 1964 the studio was equipped with one of the first Neve consoles. Switched to 8-tracks in 1968. Renamed to Phonogram Studios in 1972. As some of the Philips Studios's recordings were issued on the Fontana label, the studio is sometimes, mainly on new compilations, renamed Fontana Studios.
