American global mass media holding and publisher, established in 1909 and currently owned by Advance Publications, headquartered at One World Trade Center in Lower Manhattan, New York City. Condé Nast was established by NYC-born publisher Condé Montrose Nast (1873—1942), initially as Vogue Company, after he purchased an iconic Vogue fashion magazine in 1909. He incorporated Condé Nast Publications holding in 1922.
In 1959, renowned publisher and broadcasting entrepreneur Samuel Irving Newhouse Sr (1895—1979) purchased Condé Nast for $5,000,000 as an anniversary gift for his wife, Mitzi, who loved Vogue, merging it with his private company, Advance Publications. See also The Condé Nast Publications, Inc.
