Zomax Optical

Media pressing company located in Plymouth, Minnesota. Sometimes also only referred to as Zomax-MN or Zomax Optical Media. Zomax Optical supplied a range of services for both CD-ROM and CD production, including printing and packaging. Zomax Optical was founded in 1993 by James T. Anderson (formerly at Metacom - 1982-1993) as Zomax Optical Media Limited Partnership and incorporated in February 1996 as Zomax Optical Media Inc. In 1998 Zomax entered an agreement with Japanese Kao Corp. to purchase KAO Infosystems Company, including a CD/DVD manufacturing plant in Fremont, CA, and a CD manufacturing plant in Arnprior, Canada. Zomax also acquired the Irish Kao Infosystems Ireland, Ltd., including a CD manufacturing plant in Dublin and a diskette duplication plant in Langen, Germany. In late 2006, Zomax Inc. came under common ownership with Inoveris, LLC, which continued operations under the name Zomax. After this, Zomax's corporate headquarters were located in Dublin, OH, with other manufacturing facilities located in Arnprior, Canada and Orem, UT, as well as assembly/distribution centres in Minnesota, Mexico, and Toronto. The Irish manufacturing plant also continued operations until its closure March 2007.
