DADC
Настоящее имя: DADC
Sony Disc Manufacturing (SDM) runs many CD plants, distributors, and sales offices worldwide, many of them under "DADC" or "Sony DADC"-based company names, some of which were retroactively applied. This DADC profile is intended to represent DADC's US facilities operating Sep 1984–Aug 2005 (before they were renamed to Sony DADC), DADC's Austrian facility operating under this branding from 1998-2000 (previously DADC Austria, later Sony DADC), or any other vague references to DADC.
Only use this profile where a release specifically credits "DADC", or if the matrix contains one of the four-character codes mentioned below and was manufactured before August 2005. However, consider that DADC Codes can be printed on release artwork and on disc faces, but do not always mean that the disc was pressed by DADC; the discs may be glass-mastered and/or pressed by other companies. So if other companies are indicated or can be inferred, or there is any reason for doubt, please omit the credit or ask in the forum.
If "DADC" is mentioned in the following forms, please use those profiles: DADC, Terre Haute, Indiana; Sony DADC; Sony DADC Austria; DADC Austria; or (in Japan) Sony DADC Japan Inc.
The original DADC, a.k.a. Digital Audio Disc Corp., is an optical disc manufacturer whose first plant opened in 1984 in Terre Haute, IN.
Some DADC discs pressed at the Terre Haute plant through 1992 have the DADC "D" logo molded onto the clear plastic hub/clamping ring. This logo by itself on the hub of a US pressing is sufficient for the LCCN entry Pressed By - DADC. Likewise, hub text such as "Made in USA - Digital Audio Disc Corp. [D logo]®" can be interpreted as Pressed By - Digital Audio Disc Corp.
Additional DADC plants operated in Pitman, NJ (1988–2011); Springfield, OR (1995–2003); and Carrollton, GA (1995–2001; then continued as a distribution centre until 2013). As yet, it is unknown how to reliably distinguish discs from most of these plants. The Carrollton plant did not do its own glass mastering; whether the NJ and OR plants did is unknown.
Discs from the Pitman plant through early 1997 do not have the four-character matrix codes, but can be identified by "P" or "CMU P"-prefixed numbers stamped on the clear plastic hub/clamping ring (sometimes very tiny, right by the innermost edge); these codes can go in BAOI "Other" fields and the releases can get the LCCN entry Pressed By - DADC, Pitman.
DADC Austria has been operating in Anif, Austria since c. July 1987, and was officially renamed Sony DADC Austria AG sometime in the mid-1990s. Despite this, the DADC Austria logo in disc matrices from this plant was not replaced by Sony DADC until 2000 (and briefly by the generic DADC logo between late 1998–mid-2000). Please credit DADC Austria, DADC, or Sony DADC depending on the logo present in the CD matrix.

In 1988, codes were extended to have six digits: therefore any 6-digit DIDX/DIDP codes (i.e. DIDX 00nnnn) on CD face/artwork or in the matrix can't be earlier than 1988. Sometimes older CDs originally released without leading zeros (e.g. DIDX-nnnn) were repressed with the new format (DIDX-00nnnn).
When the DADC number (see prefix list above) is present in the CD matrix (e.g. DIDX-012345), it may be entered in LCCN as the catalogue# for DADC, with the following exceptions:
• a release manufactured after August 2005 (more easily identified as any release with release date 2006 or later), which should instead be credited to Sony DADC.
• a release with matrix number DIDX-115xxx and DIDP-121xxx or later, which is approximately the place in the numbering scheme when DADC was rebranded to Sony DADC in 2005-06.
• if the code is printed on the artwork but not in the matrix, it should not be entered in LCCN, but in BaOI as Other (DADC Code), and no manufacturing role should be assumed for DADC.
Please credit DADC with the role Glass Mastered At when identifying from these matrix numbers. Pressed By should only be used when "☆ [D logo] ☆" is moulded into the inner matrix hub.
For example, the following releases have the DADC code derived from the CD matrix and entered in LCCN:
Aégis
Angels Fall First
MATRIX NUMBERS (AUSTRIA)
Between approx. October 1998-April 2000, glass masters manufactured in Austria used the following matrix scheme:
[DADC logo] A0xx0xxxxxx-yyzz BB CC
In these cases, this label profile should be credited in LCCN (rather than DADC Austria or Sony DADC).
- For CD releases, yy indicates the disc number (always 01 for single-disc releases; 02 and onwards are used for multi-disc releases), while zz indicates the number of discs in the release (again, always 01 for single-disc releases). DVDs use different numbering for the yyzz part (yy=A5, A9, B5 or B9; zz=11).
- BB is a two digit number, usually between 11-25. The second digit is the same as the last digit of the glass mastering SID code (IFPI L55x).
- CC may be machine stamped in the mirror band, and is usually A1, A01, A00, B1, etc.
When crediting DADC from the matrix mirror band, by the presence of its logo, with or without the A0xx0xxxxxx-yyzz matrix number and mastering SID code IFPI L55x, the most accurate role to use is Glass Mastered at. When entering DADC matrix numbers into LCCN, ONLY the "A0xx0xxxxxx-yyzz" part of the string should be entered. A good example is Shades Of....
DADC also used a slightly different matrix scheme "Sony Music Sxxxxxxxxxx-yyzz BB CC" for releases manufactured for Sony Music. Please see the Sony Music profile how to properly credit DADC in these cases as this matrix was also used by DADC Austria before 1998 and Sony DADC after 2000.
Some DADC glass masters manufactured in Austria may have no logo in matrix, only the A0100xxxxxx-yyzz or S0100xxxxxx-yyzz BB CC scheme and glass mastering code L55x. DADC can be identified by matrix numbers between 0100259xxx-0100313xxx.
