Canadian label, based in Toronto, Ontario; a subsidiary of Arc Sound Ltd. The numbering sequence takes over from Arc Sound's Smash label. The layout and the lettering are almost identical to the Smash (4) labels. The low-numbered releases continue in the same fashion, issuing masters acquired from abroad, one source being Twin Hits in the U.S. Smash (4) had also used masters licensed from Embassy in the U.K., as did other Arc Sound Ltd. labels, like Arc Records (4) (see A 1052, 1053, 1064 and 1065, for example) and most likely Carnaby Records. However, starting with ST 14, the releases feature Canadian artists, presumably recorded in Canada (certainly in the case of ST17, recorded at radio station CJLX, in Fort William, Ontario, as stated on the label). Later on, Arc used the ST prefix for its custom pressings, such as I Can Take It / Fay's Gig, Carnivals And Cotton Candy / Peter Zeus, Summertime Blues / Bad Bad Whiskey, Columbus Stockade Blues, Six Brave Men From Georgia , and Mama / Believe Me.
