The Ministry of Education of the GDR was the highest administrative body for the school administration and child welfare as well as the supervisory authority for their subordinate institutions such as the Akademie Der Pädagogischen Wissenschaften Der DDR, the youth workshops or the publisher Volk und Wissen. Existed from 1949 to 1990.
