Conqueror
Настоящее имя: Conqueror
Conqueror Records was a United States-based shellac record label, active from about 1926 through 1942. The label was sold exclusively through Sears Roebuck & Co.
Conqueror was originally owned by the Plaza Music Company, then became part of the American Record Corporation family of labels.
Pressed by Regal Record Company from 1926 to June 1929, and then by ARC from 1929 onward.
Most of the issues are of standard dance tunes and popular songs of the era, although there is also some jazz including recordings by Louis Armstrong.
The audio fidelity of Conquerors is about average for the era, pressed into somewhat below average shellac.
The record sleeves state that the proper playing speed for Conqueror Records is 80 rpm.
Designs:
1929-1934: orange or red with decorative gold rim and trumpeters; if there is no mention of Sears this indicates it was made by ARC.
1934-1938: label is basic red/maroon with gold shield. The trumpeters have been replaced by a crown;
1941-1945: label switched to being all black with gold shield. This occurred after being bought by CBS.
