Plaza Music Company

The Plaza Music Company was a sales and marketing agency, and not a record manufacturer. Records distributed by Plaza were recorded at the Independent Recording Laboratories, produced by Regal Record Company, Inc. and pressed by the Scranton Button Company. Although the company began business as a musical merchandise wholesaler and sheet music dealer in 1911, it became affiliated with Regal after declaring bankruptcy in 1921. Plaza enjoyed tremendous success throughout the 1920s as distributor of Regal (3), Banner and Domino (2) records. However, it struggled following its split from Regal in 1929, when the American Record Corporation was formed and Regal, but not Plaza, was merged into the larger corporation. Plaza ultimately went bankrupt and ceased operations in 1933.
