Also appears as "Century Record Co.". Bootleg label founded by Sam Meltzer in New York, active from 1946 to April 1949 (but listed in "Billboard" as late as 1951). As part of its 3000-prefix Hot Jazz series, it re-issued a total of 58 hot jazz recordings that had originally been released in the 1920s by Paramount (55), Gennett (2), and QRS (1). There also were a 4000- and a later 1500-prefix series.
