Nasir Hafiz

Birth name of American vibraphonist, pianist, and songwriter Nasir Hafiz. Born December 13, 1925 Detroit, Michigan Died May 1980. BMI IPI #: 61392587. He played piano for Yusef Lateef. He performed with Joe Brazil and also led the house band at Blues Unlimited in Detroit in 1966 included Will Austin (bass), Bert Myrick (drums) and Charles Bowles (piano). A near-lifelong Detroitian, he finally left to seek greater music opportunity in New York in 1968.
