Memphis Jazzers (3)
Настоящее имя: Memphis Jazzers (3)
Об исполнителе:
Generic pseudonym on Grey Grey family labels for various bands. As Memphis Jazzers has previously been allocated to a Clarence Williams group and Memphis Jazzers (2) to Mike Mosiello groups, this Memphis Jazzers (3) is intended to cover releases on which it is used for groups which are neither of these. Actually all Memphis Jazzers credits should be merged as it is just a generic pseudonym like many others used on Grey Gull family labels and does not apply only to any specific identifiable group. Memphis Jazzers should not be designated as a Clarence Williams group on the basis of the two titles released on various complications as the actual original 78 releases (Madison 801 & Van Dyke 7801) couple two titles under this name, only one of which is by a Clarence Williams band (with the other side of both releases by an unidentifiable Grey Gull studio band). Memphis Jazzers (2) is supposedly a Mike Mosiello group, but in reality these are also by Grey Gull studio groups which were credited to Mike Mosiello on some releases. Mosiello also composed some of the songs made at these studio sessions, but he is just a musician in the band (and the actual bandleader is Andy Sannella). Brian Rust's "Jazz Records" correctly lists these releases under GREY GULL STUDIO BANDS rather than as Mike Mosiello groups. Memphis Jazzers (3) has been created to cover all other groups not identifiable as either of the above. This includes some titles by a Porter Grainger band, as well as other Grey Gull studio bands led by Andy Sannella (but not credited to or composed by Mike Mosiello) or possibly led by Fred Hall (2).
