MalvaKvartetten

Swedish classical string quartet that has played together since spring-winter day in 2008 at the University of Stage and Music at the University of Gothenburg. Under the inspiration and guidance of Björn Sjögren, they came to remain a string quartet. In the academic year 2010/11, they were admitted to exchange studies at the Hochschule für Musik 'Hanns Eisler' Berlin as the first ensemble at bachelor's level. During studies for Professor Friedemann Weigle (Artemis Quartet), Berlin proved to be the perfect place for the love of the quartet to grow even stronger. Today they travel between Berlin and Gothenburg and study as an ensemble at master's level at the University of Stage and Music at the University of Gothenburg for Øyvor Volle (Vertavo Quartet) and Simon Crawford Phillips (Kungsbacka Piano Trio). The Malva Quartet has premiered music by Carl-Axel Hall, Mari Saino and Juliusz Chmielewski. They are also part of Midnattsorkestern, an ensemble that carries its very own sound, plays fabulous melodies and poetic songs written by the band's accordionist David Löfberg.
