Syco (formerly Simon Mark) began DJing in 1989, putting on parties and playing at local events. In 1990, he got his first record deal with Ozone Recordings, releasing the singles 249173 - which received plays by the late John Peel and sold 3000 units - and 340844 (under the name Dr. Dream) - which was supported by Josh Wink. Things really began to happen in 1992 when Sy formed Dance On Arrival - DJing around East Anglia (with MC Contagious and dancers), and landing a record deal with cult Drum & Bass label Boogie Beat Records. 2 singles, 247220 and 241074, were well received in the rave scene, with plays from the likes of Ratty and Carl Cox. Later on, DOA changed musical direction (all things house rather than d&b/jungle). Contagious was replaced by MC Muzzy, a second DJ (DJ Dance) was drafted in, and new dancers combined to create an exciting DJ show - which delighted crowds around the country. In 1993 Sy and Dance (with Muppets Mayhem co-producer Keef Genis) formed Another Dimension, a project that spawned two labels Wardance Records and Red Seal Records. Red Seal notched up a major club smash with 187110 by 39 Orbits - which was championed by Sasha and reached the top 20 in the Mixmag, DJ Magazine and Cool Cuts charts. Sy continued to DJ until his last gig in 1997, it was time for a break! 2006/7 and Sy made a DJ comeback under the new name of Syco. Sonic Fortress released Muppet Mayhem / Beauty Of The Buzz (Remixes) . In 2010 he resigned with Ozone for his UK Syco project.
