Alex do Nascimento Gonzaga (Rio de Janeiro, March 14, 1965), known simply as Alex Gonzaga, is a Brazilian gospel singer and songwriter. He is also the lead singer of the band Novo Som, which he formed together with Lenilton in the 80s. Singer Alex Gonzaga has become one of gospel music's most prestigious performers due to his excellent interpretation and voice. For more than three decades as lead singer of the pop band Novo Som, of which he is one of the founders, Alex has gained respect and maturity from the public and has also started to plan some side projects. One of them eventually stopped being a project and became a solo career. It all began in 2001, with the release of the CD "Canções, Eternas Canções", which featured re-recordings of various hits from the 80s and 90s. This project brought Alex a totally different musical proposal from the work of Novo Som, something much closer to congregational music and MPB.
