David McDermott (2)

American contemporary artist, self-proclaimed "time experimenter," character actor, painter, photographer and filmmaker (b. 1952, Hollywood, California). David McDermott is best known for his decades-long duo collaboration with Peter McGough, enacting his entire life as a Victorian-era mid-XIX-century gentleman. Between 1980 and 1995, McDermott & McGough dressed in period-correct attire, produced all artworks with obsolete and antiquated techniques, and resided in a refurbished candle-lit house without electricity. McDermott studied at Syracuse University from 1970 to 1974. In 1996, David McDermott acted in Julian Schnabel's biopic film Basquiat, based on the life of a renowned NYC artist Jean-Michel Basquiat and featuring an all-star cast with Benicio Del Toro, David Bowie, Gary Oldman, Jeffrey Wright (2), Michael Wincott, Christopher Walken, Willem Dafoe, and Courtney Love to name just a few.
