Trinidad & Tobago born Brent Clarke immigrated mid 60s to London (UK) where he organised dances and gigs focused on Caribbean music (Calypso, Ska, Rocksteady and Reggae). From 1972 he temporarily worked as a Promotion manager for Johnny Nash' and Danny Sims' JAD label, and later on found a job at Island Records where he introduced Bob Marley as his road-manager to Chris Blackwell, which would later result in the album , the international breakthrough for The Wailers. Brent Clarke set up his own UK (Tottenham) based Reggae label Atra / Atra Records in 1974, releasing albums from artists like Brimstone (3), Hugh Mundell, Keith Hudson and Horace Andy. After financial problems late 70s Clarke relocated to Antwerp (Belgium) where he stayed a few years to set up the first Reggae record shops and Reggae club, and organised several cult Reggae gigs, before moving to the US. Clarke died 2001 in the US.
