British-born Canadian promoter and talent manager from Toronto. After graduating from College in London, England, he moved to Toronto in 1967 and opened Grumbles Coffee Shop, a popular spot in the Toronto folk scene that hosted early gigs by Bruce Cockburn, Gordon Lightfoot, etc. After Grumbles was closed down in January 1973, he started as a promotion rep for RCA Limited in February 1973. He became the Manager of Promotion and A&R for GRT Of Canada Ltd. in September 1973. Dixon left GRT in March 1974 to start a successful promotion and booking company, Dixon Propas Management (a.k.a. Dixon-Propas Productions Inc.), with Steve Propas. The company established the Solid Gold Records (2) label and Solid Gold Publishing in 1979, which operated until 1985. He has been President of Canadian Music Week since 1993.
