Brazilian singer and songwriter born in the interior of Pernambuco, he seeks to direct his theme and work towards aspects related to the capital of Piauí: Teresina. Together with maestro Aurélio Melo, he composed the song "Teresina" (the unofficial anthem of Teresina), which won several awards and had its first version recorded in 1986 by the group Candeias. In 2008 he was the big winner of the Sonnet Contest held by TV Cidade Verde as part of the programming for the special "Teresina 156 anos - Música, Letra e Dança". José Rodrigues won first place in the contest with the sonnet: Teresinando.
