American vocalist, guitarist, songwriter, actor and model, born February 19, 1951, The Bronx, New York, USA – died March 29, 2020, New York City, New York, USA. He was best known as a vocalist and songwriter but also played the guitar, bass guitar, harmonica and keyboards. His most famous composition was I Love Rock'n Roll, later covered by Joan Jett & The Blackhearts. In 1983, a recording of his song When The Night Comes by Lou Rawls was broadcast from the space shuttle Challenger by the astronaut Guion Bluford, the first African American in space.
