Настоящее имя: Anna Carter (3)
Об исполнителе:
US alto vocalist, founding member of the Chuck Wagon Gang Effie Carter was the daughter of D.P. Carter, an itinerant cotton farmer who in 1935 successfully auditioned with his son Ernest and daughter Lola for radio station KFYO in Lubbock, TX, in order to make enough money to buy medicine for the 18-year-old Effie, who was suffering from pneumonia. Once recovered, Effie and the other three performed as the Carter Quartet, first for KFYO, then a year later for the larger station WBAP in Forth Worth, TX. At WBAP, they became the Chuck Wagon Gang, and Effie acquired her stage name "Anna" even though she had a sister who was also called Anna. Effie "Anna" Carter (married name: Gordon) performed as part of that group from 1936 to 1975 and then again in 1978. Effie's second husband was Louisiana Governor Jimmie "The Singing Governor" Davis.
