Johnny Bond (3)

American trumpet player and vocalist from New Haven, CT. Bond studied the violin in his youth, but later switched to trumpet. He performed with Mitchell Ayres from 1941 to 1944, interrupted by a six month stint with Jerry Walden's band in 1942. In 1944, he joined Vaughn Monroe's orchestra, switching to George Paxton & His Orchestra in mid-1945. In 1949, Bond formed his own 5-piece "orchestra", with Rosemary Calvin, whom he new from Monroe's and Paxton's orchestras, as a vocalist. Johnny Bond And His Orchestra recorded with MGM Records in 1949 and with Capitol in 1950.
