Female singer of the Swing era (born in Council Bluff, Idaho) Calvin started her entertainer career as a dancer for her family's vaudeville company, and her singing career in 1937 with Lee Walters' Orchestra in Detroit, performing on local radio stations. Around 1940, she performed with Paul Leash and the The Sophisticats, stated to be known as "Tabby". She recorded with Fred Rich And His Orchestra (1940), Vaughn Monroe And His Orchestra (1944-1945), George Paxton & His Orchestra (1945-1949), and Johnny Bond And His Orchestra (1949-ca. 1951). Later, she worked in the Lake Tahoe-Reno area performing at various hotels. She appeared in concert with Nelson Riddle, worked eight years with the "Rounders", and recorded on her own with Gordon Jenkins. She founded the vocal group "Tabby and the Cats", and worked seven years in Nevada. She eventually moved to Jacksonville, Florida, and in 1969 to Orlando, where she continued to work as a freelancer vocalist. Daughter of Lee Calvin, band manager of Spike Jones.
