The Mawaca is a Brazilian group that researches and recreates the music of the various parts of the globe. It is formed by a vocal group that interprets songs in more than 20 languages and the singers are accompanied by an acoustic instrumental group: accordion (Gabriel Levy), cello and flute (Ana Eliza Colomar), soprano saxophone (Ramiro Marques), double bass (Rogério Botter-Maio), in addition to percussion instruments such as Indian tables, Arabic derbak, African djembé, berimbau, vibraphone, several tambourines (Armando Tibério and Valéria Zeidan). The singers of the group are Angélica Leutwiller, Cris Miguel, Magda Pucci, Rita Braga, Sandra Oakh and Zuzu Leiva. The group's repertoire consists of songs from disparate traditions such as Japanese and Irish; from countries as distant as Finland and Japan, Central Africa and Indonesia, different regions such as the Middle East and the Iberian Peninsula. These are ancestral themes that allow you to investigate multiple sounds that reveal local ethnic characteristics, always seeking to establish interrelations with Brazilian music.
