Bill Gilbert (2)

Bill Gilbert (2) was born in 1944 in Quincy, IL. During college in Rolla, Missouri, Gilbert was the drummer and business manager of The Lyndells, a garage rock band. Three records were released on 45s during this time, two as The Lyndells and one as their later name The Last Exit (2). He also had his own record label, Farad Records (2), and his own publishing company, Brickbert Music. A handful of 45s from the area of Rolla, MO were released on this imprint at that time, including The Lyndells. After graduating from college, he played in the band, Eastern Time Zone in Rochester, NY. Settling in the Kansas City area, he built his career in the lighting and grip services, forming The Gilbert Group of Overland Park, Kansas. Starting with a van and a few lights, Bill provided lighting and grip support for the film, video, and movie industry. The Gilbert Group and Bill Gilbert were credited for a few recording and mixing work in the late '70s and early '80s in the Overland Park area. In the late '70s he also began restoring the original '60s master recordings of The Lyndells, in preparation for an audio recording of the original material to be shared at a Lyndells reunion show. The Gilbert Group continued to grow and expand and he was fortunate to work on many Hollywood movies, commercials and television productions. Bill Gilbert passed away on January 6, 2012.
