Mike Collier was born in the UK, and moved to US in 1955 to join London Records in a senior A&R role. He later left London Records for a role doing promotion for Hugo & Luigi, who were releasing records through RCA . He left them in 1961 and set up his own label Collier.. In 1962 Collier returned to the UK and focused on producing records via Micol Productions. Ltd. and formed a publishing company named Mido Music Ltd. He also joined Campbell-Connelly music publishers, and functioned in an A&R role, as well as becoming a director of the company. In 1963, Collier married Joyce Tapp (Joyce Collier), and formed a songwriting partnership with her. They published via IVY Music. Later he formed another production company: Cee Cee Productions In January, 1969 he left Campbell-Connelly and formed Mother Mistro, which was acquired by Scotia Investments in April, 1971. Collier remained with the company following the acquisition. In 1970 Mother Mistro was involved with the creation of Mother. Collier then joined Carlin Music Corp. in 1972. Carlin Music formed Solid Gold Records in 1973 and made Collier a director and acquired an ownership interest in Majestic Studios. In 1976 Collier and David Watson, both of whom worked for Carlin formed the Feelgood label. In 1979 Freddy Bienstock, the president of Carlin Music, and Collier, who was then a director of Carlin, set up a new label, Flamingo (2) Collier died on May 12, 2004.
