Punk rock band from Kyoto, Japan. The band's original lineup was Hiroshi (vocals & guitar), Mark (drums), and Naoki (bass). Hiroshi and Mark together with an unknown bassist played coulple of gigs as "X" before they were named Zig Zag in the late 1979 and early 1980. Zig Zag's official debut gig in Kyoto was on March 22th 1980. Some of the bands they have often played with are Inu, The Roosters, Anarchy, The No Comments, S-Ken, and Aunt Sally (mostly Kansai punk / new wave / no wave bands from Osaka and Kyoto, and Tokyo Rockers related bands from Tokyo). Opened for the Ramones in Kyoto and Osaka in July 1980 during their first Japan tour. In September 1980, bassist Naoki left the band, replaced by former 連続射殺魔 member Koichi Nakamura. Zig Zag's [u]first 7"[/u] was released as vocalist/guitarist Hiroshi Miki's solo debut single in March 1981, followed by a full-length album "Madd Power" in August 1981. The original incarnation of Zig Zag broke up in 1983. Since March 1983, Zig Zag frontman Hiroshi formed and played in various bands; 1999 (pre-Trickster with Mark and members of Ultra Bide, EP-4 and Fromage) in March 1983, Trickster (10) (with Mark and M. Mashimo) in the mid '80s, Hiroshi & Trickster (more R&R influenced than Trickster, with additional members) in 1989, and H.J.T. (with ex-The Roosters (5) members, Junji Ikehata and Tomio Inoue) in 1990. October 2004: Reuniuon show, opened for Laughin' Nose and SA in Kyoto. December 2004-2005: Hiroshi played guitar for The Stripper (2) singer 仁義 (Zingi)'s band called "Zingi" featuring Kamikaze (ex-Masturbation) on bass, and Takami (ex-SS, Nankai Hawkwind, The Continental Kids) on drums. Opened for The Star Club in Kyoto in June 2005. July 2006: Hiroshi's solo project called R's released an album. 2007: Zig Zag got back together with new lineup including Pon (2) (Laughin' Nose, ex-Nashi & Cobra) on bass. He left the band in 2008. 2011: Tomio Inoue (ex-The Roosters) joined Zig Zag as support bassist. July 2012: New album "Three Piece Rock" released by Central Market Recordings (Kyoto). *Not to be confused with another, more mainstream-oriented Japanese rock band with the same name.*
