Canadian broadcaster, record company executive, talent manager and producer (b. July 30, 1941). Started out in radio as an announcer on Montreal's CKGM-FM on the first day it opened, July 16, 1963. Soon moved to TV as an on-air personality on Ottawa's CJOH-TV in 1964. After a few years he returned to radio in 1966 on Smith Falls' CJET. Founded label Sir John A. in 1967 and acted as manager for some of the bands on its roster. In November 1967 he left CJET to move to Toronto to focus on his label and the record business. Joined newly formed production/artist management/PR company Variety Artists Productions as Manager in July 1968. He joined RCA Limited in June 1969 as Executive Assistant to George Harrison, Vice-President of the RCA Record Division. By the end of the year he was Manager of Talent Development at RCA's Sun-Bar Productions and in February 1970 was appointed Manager of Sales and Promotions. In early 1971 he moved to Warner Bros. Records Of Canada, Ltd. where he was National Merchandising Manager but soon became Director of its new Canadian A&R department when it was formed in March. He continued in that role through the change to Kinney and then WEA. Founded and managed WEA's publishing company Don Valley Music. In September 1973 Pozer moved to U.A. Records, Limited as A&R Director where he founded their publishing arm Unart Music (Canada) Ltd.. He left UA and moved to Vancouver in September 1974 to start his own management and production company, John Pozer Music Ltd. Not to be confused with the Canadian actor, director and screenwriter John G. Pozer who was active in the same era, and whom Pozer hired in 1975 to work at John Pozer Music Ltd.
