Composer and music publisher. Born February 27, 1891. Died July 28, 1957 (age of 66). Father of songwriter and publicist Stanley Cowan. Known to have co-written with Will Donaldson. As a songwriter he charted twice in the U.S. between 1918-1928. His first charted song was "The Yanks Are at it Again" by Arthur Fields & the Peerless Quartet, which hit #9 in 1918 (co-written by Lew Brown). His second was "Is She My Girl Friend?" by The Coon-Sanders Orchestra, which landed at #19 in 1928 (co-written by Sam H. Stept and Herman Ruby).
